Building on Strong Foundations with Local Companies
Contracts for our projects are primarily awarded to regional companies. If no suitable provider can be found locally, we gradually extend our search to the district of Imst, followed by Tyrol, Austria, South Tyrol and Germany.
Investing in Our Region
It is important to us to commission local companies for construction projects. In this way, we make an important contribution to strengthening the economy of our region. Reliable local partners are also readily available whenever maintenance work is required. For this reason, for example, we work with HTB in Arzl im Pitztal on all our maintenance projects.
Regional Ingredients // Good for Our Guests and Local Suppliers
For around two years, we have pursued a consistent approach in our mountain restaurants at the Pitztal Glacier, Café 3440 and the Sunna Alm at Rifflsee: we want to offer our guests a regional and seasonal selection of food and beverages that not only tastes excellent, but is also prepared, wherever possible, using ingredients sourced from farmers and businesses in our immediate region.
Nestlé products are no longer included in our range, while many of our dishes and key ingredients are sourced locally. One of the reasons the homemade cakes at Café 3440 – Austria’s highest confectionery – taste so good is that, subject to availability, our eggs come from free-range hens at the Locherhof farm in Arzl im Pitztal.
Local vegetable growers supply us with seasonal produce, while our bread is baked by Bäckerei Schranz in St. Leonhard im Pitztal. Our meat also comes from livestock reared in the region.
As demand for vegan and vegetarian dishes continues to grow, and high levels of meat consumption also have a negative impact on the carbon footprint, we make sure to offer an appealing selection of alternatives. Depending on the season, this includes creative dishes prepared with regional ingredients, such as blueberry pancakes and the ever-popular Kaiserschmarrn. To round off the meal, guests can enjoy a schnapps produced by one of our local distilleries.
Fine and Full-Flavoured Specialities from the Region
Our region is home to many small producers, particularly food producers, with whom we enjoy creating distinctive local specialities. One example is Tiroler Edle, a chocolate manufacturer based in Landeck. Together with this family-run business, we created a special glacier chocolate flavoured with Swiss pine from the lower Pitztal.
The milk used in the chocolate comes from Tyrolean Grey cattle, a hardy breed that has been at home in the Tyrolean mountains for more than 3,000 years.
For those who prefer something less sweet, we offer a full-flavoured alternative: a glacier beer brewed especially for us by the regional Starkenberger brewery in Tarrenz.
We Keep Things Clean
Sustainable procurement helps us meet our own social and environmental standards. We therefore give preference to suppliers and businesses from our region that share our values.
This is precisely why we decided in 2022 to source all our cleaning and hygiene products from Hollu. Social and environmental responsibility is firmly embedded in the strategy of this Tyrolean company and put into practice every day. It is a clean partnership in every sense when two companies share the same values.
