Alpine open space: Pitztal Glacier

They say that all roads lead to Rome. Only one leads to THE HIGHEST IN TIROL, but the possibilities at 2,840 m to 3,440 m are all the more varied. From summit victories over the peaks of the Ötztal Alps to meditative moments in the Chapel of the White Light to culinary delights in Austria’s highest coffee house, the DAS 3440 – there is something up there for everybody.

Visitors can move amidst the eternal ice on the Pitztal Glacier, explore the bizarre glacier world on foot and treat themselves to some time out at the highest viewing point in Austria: THE 3440.

Guided hike every SAT on the 3.162 m high Mittagskogel.

Every SUN at 08.15 am. You first travel up by cable car to the 3440, then you descent to the Taschachhaus and then back to Mandarfen by mountain bike (Bike Hotline: +43 660 755 84 83).

The highest cache can be found on the HIGHEST IN TIROL.

Anyone hiking on the E5 to the Pitztal can use the Gletscherexpress to shorten the tour by about 1 hour and save around 400 m in altitude.

The photo exhibition in the Wildspitze Glacier Restaurant looks at the history of the Pitztal from the past to the present day.

Alpine open space: Rifflsee

It takes eight minutes for the gondola to cover the 600 metres height difference from Mandarfen to the Rifflsee. At 2.232 metres above the sea, your steps become slower and your breaths deeper.
But up here you are not only tempted by various summit victories, but also by Europe’s highest raft trip, exploration tours in the Pitztaler mountain world or the possibility to observe frogs or tadpoles.
Whether you are a pleasure seeker or an adventurer, an endurance athlete or a family hiker, everybody can find his perfect mountain experience.

Tyrol’s living room by the lake. While seated in the spacious mountain restaurant, you can enjoy regional delicacies and admire the view of Austria’s highest mountain lake.

Europe’s highest raft ride at 2,232 m – daily at 1.30 pm an in July and August additionally at 10.30 am.

Watch frogs and tadpoles at close quarters – suitable for families.

Every FRI, guided hike on the Fuldaer High Trail.
Start out on foot to the Taschachhaus by crossing the Glacier morraine to the goods cable car. Register by telephone (+43 660 755 84 83) to hire a mountain bike to cycle back to Mandarfen.

Exciting puzzle for children, involving a tour around the Rifflsee with a certificate and a reward in the Sunna Alm

Guided hike around the mountain lake with mini raft buliding, raft ride and barbecue by the Rifflsee with child supervision. Every FRI.

Duration: whole day

Find your flow next to the flowing water: Yoga session followed by a vitality breakfast in the Sunna Alm.
Every Wednesday in July + August.

Another cache is hidden among the mountains by the Rifflsee – can you find it?

The perfect running terrain for trail runners with running routes, that you can tailor to your individual pleasure.

Event Tip: The “Salomon Pitz Alpine Glacier Trail” – the trail running event for all individual ability levels.

Hike into the valley via the panoramic trail to the Taschach Alm and on to Mandarfen.

Difficulty level: easy
Duration: 1.5 hours

Passing by the Rifflsee, you continue into the “Wurmtal”.
You hike gently uphill and halfway on your way back, you find the Ploder See on the highest point of your hike.

Alpiner Freedom: TIROL'S FINEST HEAD OF VALLEY

At THE HIGHEST IN TIROL and Rifflsee, there are summits in every level of difficulty and up to 3.774 m high.
But even to those who like it more relaxed or prefer to have their feet firmly on the ground, Tirol’s finest head of valley offers a multitude of opportunities.

Easy and interesting walk. On the way to the Gletscherstube mountain hut, the myths of the Pitztal valley are explained.

Around Mandarfen are various stone sculptures that were created at the international stone sculptor symosiums.

The park with 8 stations near the “Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten“ (“Four Seasons”) offers excellent training exercises in a wide variety levels.

You learn everything about the reintroduction of the ibex in the Pitztal valley at the Alpine Ibex Center.
